Drawings and Lockets

I remember drawing a picture of a woman I saw in church when I was just a little girl. My mom looked at the drawing and said, “Oh hunny, you give that woman too much credit.” That's just who I am—I choose to see people’s best features.

I grew up in Lake Charles, LA in a single-parent home where family, time, and financials were always limited. A twin, I have a deep connection with my sister.

I thrive on unlocking doors and breaking barriers. My journey and choices made throughout life allowed me to recognize my gifts of intuition and interpersonal connection. These skills provided me the tools for a successful career path in communications as well as learning and development.

Like many others, I have walked at the bottom of the mountain. The pivotal moment is when you begin the climb. The euphoric moment is when you reach the top, and you come to a place where the past looks small yet valuable—like a snapshot in time. When you get to the top of that mountain, that’s where your limitless opportunities begin.

I’m excited to assist others in their climb to a more purposeful and fulfilling life. My promise to you is that my story will unfold with yours as we embark upon an amazing journey together.

The Swords That I Have Fallen On and the Freedom That Come With Them

I was seven years old when my father took me to his hometown in Pakistan. We were walking around a spice bazaar when I encountered a beggar with a missing leg.

Curious, I asked my dad how much a leg cost. He told me $100. I took $100 to the beggar and told him the money was for his leg, so he could work and support himself and his family. This explains me to a T because, for every problem I’ve encountered, I work through a solution.

I grew up in Las Vegas, NV in a castle built for kings and queens! Hoodlums, really, as I am the oldest of seven brothers and one sister.

Unfortunately, fairy tales aren’t real, and ours came to an end at the start of my parents’ divorce when I was just eleven years old. That summer, I told my tennis instructor I wasn’t checking in for camp—that I was going to be paid and coach.

I am proud to share my “fight on” cheer from the University of Southern California (USC) and Master’s Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I believe that the true power in learning comes from experiencing different walks of life.

Dancing with the aficionados in Madrid. Discussing the political climate of Europe with the French in Paris. Hiking with the Mayans in Guatemala. The passion to connect with people no matter their background, no matter their language, led me into a fulfilling and successful career in human resources in the hospitality and travel industry—a perfect match for my free spirit.

The funny thing about traveling is the more you experience, the more you want to discover. Such is true with me, as I embark upon this new journey. Every person is a book with a beginning, middle, and end. My promise to you is that you have all the chapters; I just have the tools to design them!
